A male African elephant in Ngorongoro crater, Tanzania. I was told it is rare to see elephants this old as ivory poachers in the 1970s and 1980s killed most of the mature males. So while it is common to see 30 year old males today, 50 and 60 year olds, the ones with huge tusks, are much less common. This is the best shot I could get of him. He refused to look at the camera and every time the safari jeep would move forward to get a better view he would turn away from us. An old pro.
