During my visit to La Paz, Bolivia I encountered a large protest occurring in the center of the city. The protesters were angry with President Morales for reneging on promises he had made during his campaign. In order to garner attention to their cause, a few individuals would shoot fire crackers into the air. The pyrotechnic reports were launched out of cardboard tubes, similar to roman candles, and then explode about 100 feet above. The boom would echo off the nearby buildings and could be heard throughout the city. The photo of the man above shows three reports blasting from the cardboard launching tube. The tube in his left hand has yet to fire. Notice he is using headphones for ear protection.
